One of the characteristics of my massive childhood neuroticism was an inflated fear of the supernatural, especially the idea of ghosts, poltergeists, any hauntings in general. I think being raised in a religious household contributed to my being able to suspend disbelief in such a manner. I actually have a profound story to tell in that regard, but that's for another day.

The Fine Young Cannibals song "She Drives Me Crazy" has a line where this dude says "People say that I'm obsessed." When I was 10 years old, I heard "People say that I'm possessed." As in, he's demonically possessed. It made perfect sense to me. I mean, look at him. 😈
